Fall 2024 Notes

Fall 2024 Notes

Happy Fall all! We held a great interest meeting yesterday and I wanted to layout all the information - as there’s a bit to plan as we move towards the colder months. Here we go:

  • Winter League - named by last season’s players as the #1 thing we can do to get better - the Percivals are organizing a Saybrook team. It’s one a hour a week, Sunday mornings with an 8am or 9am start time and runs January-March. It’s fast, fun and a great warm up to the season but is NOT mandatory. Cost is $180 (if the cost of play is an issue, reach out - help is available). Also, the Percivals have also taken on getting rides to games. My thanks to the Percivals.

    • To sign up/questions: email sarahpercival@comcast.net. Venmo to Sarah-Percival-3. Last four digits of my phone number are 2589.

    • Deadline is November 1st. Please move on this now.

  • Players. We need more. To build a team that consistently plays at the top of our conference we need more players. Right now, we look to have about 25 players for the Spring. 30 is our number to hit - we need to find 5 more. I am confident in our Coach Sagnella that we can build up any non-player into a contributor by the end of Spring. Seniors, I am sure we can find 5 more players?

  • Speaking of Seniors, congrats to our 2025 Captains: Wes Percival, Cole Lawson and Liam Roberts. We’re excited to be led into this new chapter of Saybrook lacrosse!

  • Spring Break! We love and hate Spring Break. There are 3 games (2 in-conference!) that are happening over the week and weekends surrounding it. Please take note and if it all possible, shift vacations/visits earlier in the year. Your teammates will thank you.

  • The PRT is coming! Day 1 of lacrosse season (March 22nd) we’ll hold our Physical Readiness Test. No special gear needed, just will power and strength.

    • 1.5 miles timed.

    • Max amount of pushups in 3 minutes

    • Plank for max of 4 minutes

    • timed shuttle run (10 yards)

  • Grades/Tardy/Absenses - being a student-athlete means putting in the work in the classroom and on the field. Now is a great time to boost your grades, not miss class and stop being late (even if its “just one minute late” - you know who you are).
