PRT - Physical Readiness Test

  • What is it? A set of standards for our team with minimums and maximums. Standards are below. We’ll hold this test day #1 of practice and at 2 other times during the season to mark our progress.

  • What is the test? This test will measure a basic level of fitness - pushups, plank and a 1.5 mile run. Note: all of these things can be prepared for at home, without any equipment.

  • What happens if:

    • You hit the maximums - you can stop knowing you are an elite athlete

    • You miss the minimums - after practice, we’ll work with you to hit the minimums.

  • Why? Our goal is to compete on the field. To do so, our physical condition plays a large role. The more we get our team ready to compete physically on their own, the less we need to work on this in practice and can move on to advanced play.

How to prepare?

  1. Start today.

  2. Set a timer for 2 minutes and complete as many push ups as you can. Write down the number. Tomorrow, do the same thing and strive for 1 more. Repeat.

  3. After your pushups, hold a plank while resetting your timer. Note how long you can hold it. Tomorrow, try for 10 more seconds. Repeat.

  4. Run 2 miles. If you are not fast (like me), it could take you 20 minutes. Time your run. If at the school track, that’s 8 laps.
